Top 5 Dinner Spots in Tulum

We spent a week in April on the beaches in Tulum, Mexico! From the beautiful beaches, the amazing food + drinks, to the people and our awesome hotel, Tulum did not disappoint! Today, I’m sharing my top 5 dinner experiences in Tulum!

Gitano Tulum is a Mezcal Bar & Restaurant on Tulum Beach. The open and modern design was absolutely gorgeous! And the food and drinks were amazing! The modern mexican kitchen uses seasonal local ingredients cooked in their wood burning oven & open fire grill. Their menu is designed for more of a shared dining experience and we thought that was a really great set up. We got the guacamole and Black Truffle Tlayuda-- think of this kind of like a pizza. It was yummy, the guac came with chips and an assortment of veggies- very good.

The Mezcal cocktails are hand made daily with local seasonal fruits and herbs. We tried the Kisses in the Car, but my favorite was the Gitano Mojito. SO good! Overall, I’d highly recommend adding this one to your list of places to eat on your beach vacation in Tulum!

Azulik -- Kin Toh was another high-anticipated restaurant spot that we HAD to try! The aesthetically pleasing tree house design was amazing! Not to mention, they bottle over 600 bottles from 200 different labels - a truly exclusive selection! I had an espresso martini, it was the perfect touch. If you like coffee you will love espresso martinis! I discovered these a few years ago at a late night out in Prague. They are the perfect pick me up!

Their food selection combines methods and local ingredients from their native culinary traditions with international elements to offer a multi-sensorial experience in each dish. To start they offer an assortment of breads and butters, we also ordered the Poblano Risotto, and it was a 10/10! I also tried the Fresh Pasta, it is delicious parmesan, butter and black truffle goodness. We were offered a complementary dessert as we were celebrating a birthday!

Add this one to your list of places to eat dinner in Tulum!! Make sure to get reservations plenty in advance, also it is best before it gets dark! If I could change one thing, it would be to be there during day light. They also offer breakfast and lunch which is a great way to see this beautiful tree house for a lighter meal.

Ukami is a sushi restaurant that also features a Mexican twist! Japan truly meets Mexico here, it was some of the best and most unique sushi I’ve had in a long time! I tried their Taka Taka + Tachidito rolls, it was delish. If you like sushi and Mexican cuisine, you will love this dinner spot!

Ilios is a Greek restaurant that we went to on our 4th night for dinner. The authentic Mediterranean cuisine great, the drinks were also really good, and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself was awesome! I had the salmon filet with sweet potatoes and spinach, this was incredible. Overall, I’m so glad we had this one on our agenda and I would definitely go back! This was easily my favorite place we ate— I actually didn’t have this on my radar when we arrived but our hotel recommended and another local recommended, after that I was sold. I am so glad we got in here. HIGHLY recommend. Not only is the food top notch, the service and atmosphere is unlike anything else experienced in Tulum.

Cenzontle had a really great variety of cuisine options on their menu! We stopped here for drinks and an appetizer. From Mexican, Latin, Seafood, Central American, and Fusion flavors, they are a must-eat place on your next trip to Tulum. The food, music, and service was superb. I had their Hibiscus Empanadas and drank a Rita Hayworth—a signature cocktail with cucumber, lime and mezcal, and it was great!

All of our dinner spots were amazing in Tulum and if I ever go back, I would definitely revisit all of these great spots!
