A Foodies Guide to Paris

While there are seemingly a million great places to eat in Paris, you can never quite get to them all in one trip! Here are some of my favorite places we ate while in Paris recently. You can find my full 1 week itinerary here!

Where to get BREAKFAST

Holly Belly 5— breakfast and lunch served all day from 9am to 4pm. Well known for their pancakes, eggs & sides and daily specials. No reservations are accepted. It is suggested to get there before 9am for seating!

Maison Sauvage— a timeless restaurant located in the historic district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés offering an extravagant breakfast menu with a special weekend menu. They are particularly known for their over the top flower decor that changes seasonally. No reservations for the terrace, but they do accept reservations for indoor dining here.

Mokonuts— small, quaint space serviced by the owners for an authentic experience. Well known for their shakshouka and other bakery items. Serving breakfast from 9-11am Monday-Friday, no reservations accepted for breakfast.

Bon Bouquet Café— dishes as good as they are beautiful, generous and gourmet, all in a warm and exotic atmosphere for a brunch and a WOW experience! No reservations accepted.

LouLou— situated in the center of the Latin Quarter, Loulou is a cheerful Australian inspired café and restaurant. Serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch all day. They also have a juice bar and beer garden essentially making this the spot to be at any time of day. You can make reservations here.

Where to get LUNCH

Pink Mamma— one of the best Italian restaurants in the city! It has the cutest vibes, especially on the top floor (if you cant sit up there, go to the top to check it out before leaving). They are known for the truffle pasta but their pizzas are fantastic too! You can make a reservation here.

Le Café Marly— we had coffee and drinks to recharge at this adorable cafe overlooking the Louvre. It is a great stop before or after visiting the museum. Ask to sit on the patio to enjoy the views! You can make a reservation here.

Loulou— restaurant within the Musée des Arts Décoratifs serving Italian & French cuisine. I recommend eating outside here on a sunny day in the gardens! It is beautiful and the food was also fantastic. Highly recommend trying the Pipe Rigate alla vodka and the Salade de choux kale, avocat, féta, pesto de kale, pignons de pin, grenades, fruits secs! You can reserve a table here

La Maison Rose— an Instagram famous pink restaurant in the heart of Montmartre. They pride themselves on French farm to table cuisine and Italian cucina povera. The brunch was fantastic— 29€ that included tea or coffee, a wine or champagne, bread with butter and jams, an egg dish or a vegan crumble, finished with a choice of carrot cake or vegan lemon poppy seed bread.

Le Consulat— an Instagram sensation, but often surrounded by many tourists. You can enjoy the cafe best in the early morning and on weekdays.

L'Impérial Rivoli— a quaint brasserie we strolled upon for champagne and french onion soup. It was the perfect pick me up!

Le Grand Corona— we stumbled upon the cutest cafe. The staff was incredibly welcoming and so nice. This was my favorite french onion soup of the trip! No reservation required.

Where to get TEA, COFFEE, CROISSANTS, MACAROONS + MORE

Afternoon Tea at Waldorf Astoria Versailles

One of my favorite things we discovered in Versailles. Just an 8-10 minute walk from the front of the Palace of Versailles you’ll find this charming hotel! The afternoon tea is a delight and only 32€ without champagne and 49€ with champagne.

Tea is served from 3:00-6:00pm daily.

Afternoon Teat at Salon Proust- Ritz Paris— a upscale experience in a luxurious setting to complete the classic French tea time. You can choose between Tea à La Française €65.00 or Royal Tea à La Française €85.00 accompanied by a glass of champagne. Tea is served daily from 2:00-6:00pm.

Reservations highly suggested—you can make a reservation here.

Ladurée for an afternoon pick me up! We grabbed macaroons and coffee so we could make it to our late dinner. Ladurèe is known for their incredible macaroons and the original store can be visited at 16 rue Royale. If you have time I highly recommend an afternoon tea time or brunch here. Their french toast is fantastic!

Croissants at Du Pain et des Idées— arguably one of the best croissants in Paris, a stop by this bakery is a must! Open Monday-Friday.

Coffee at Cafè de Flore— a famous cafe dating back to 1887 frequented by many well known celebrities such as Robert De Niro. It is the best place to enjoy coffee on the terrace. No reservations are accepted. Open daily from 7:30am-1:30am.

Coffee at Shakespeare & Company Café— visiting the bookstore on the edge of the Siene River is a must if you have never been! The store was names after the original Shakespeare and Company in 1919. Her store at 12 rue de l’Odéon was a gathering place for the great expat writers of the time—Joyce, Hemingway, Stein, Fitzgerald, Eliot, Pound—as well as for leading French writers.

Where to get DRINKS

Bar Hemingway— an intimate 25 seats hidden in the Ritz Paris. You will feel the ambiance of a “members only” club. Opening nightly at 6pm there are no reservations. Be sure to get here upon opening for best chance at a seat.

Bisou— a bar without a menu! Here you will enjoy a handcrafted cocktail after sharing your tastes, preferences, and even mood and they’ll craft a you a bespoke cocktail based on all that with seasonal ingredients. Open daily from 5pm-2am.

Little Red Door— a hidden bar in the 3rd Arr. you will find this bar behind a little red door… as you would assume. But there is actually a grey door to enter through. Named number 29 in Worlds 50 Best Bars!

Blaine Bar— a speakeasy in which you must have a password to enter, just as in prohibition times. You will be instantly transformed into the 1930’s. Reassemble your collar, get close to this black door without a sign well guarded by a curious man, whisper him the password of the week. Hint— you can get the password by asking them on Facebook. It is changed weekly.

Where to get DINNER

Moloko Paris— Modern Asian cuisine, world-class mixology and outstanding design. We had a great dinner here and the vibes were awesome! The Crispy Rice Tuna was great!

Bomba— Latin inspired cuisine served in the a floral and refined setting with gilding and velvet draperies, the restaurant and dance bar invites you for an upscale journey in the heart of the Grands Boulevards.

Chez Janou— a classic Parisian bistro that was lively well into the night. They offer a lot of smaller plates, we tried a few. Hands down favorite dish was the Ravioli, we ordered another one after we ate the first one— it was that good! To make a reservation call at +01 42 72 28 41.

Girafe— well known for their incredible views of the Eiffel Tower this fine dining restaurant is serving up contemporary seafood and great drinks. Be prepared, only a few seats in the house have direct views of the Eiffel Tower. It seems the best views are on the patio during warmer weather.

Gigi— this was one of our FAVORITE dinners on the trip. It was lively with a DJ and the food was fantastic!! To make this even better they have a terrace overlooking the Eiffel Tower you can head over to at anytime throughout your time here.

I had the sea bass— they bring the whole fish to the table and then prepare it for you there. It also comes with 2 sides. This dish is huge and can be split 2-3 ways. We also got the truffle pizza to start— that was incredible.

Ober Mamma— another one of Big Mamma Restaurant group’s restaurants. You seriously cannot go wrong here. They are all fantastic. We had the John Limmon Pizza and the Crazy San Marzano pasta!

There are many delicious places to eat in Paris and these are some of my favorites! I hope you enjoy them too!
